Chiloe Escape

Your transfer will be waiting with your name on a sign. They will have limited English but good enough to guide you to your transfer. They will ensure you receive your documentation for the rest of your Chile trip. Your transfer from Puerto Montt to Castro  will take approximately 3.5 hours. 

After being picked up from your hotel in Castro we will explore this capital city of Chiloé. We will tour the “Yumbel Fair” showcasing a variety of regional products and the freshest seafood in the area. 

From there we will stop at the grand San Francisco Church, declared a Chilean National Monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Last but not least we will reach the famous palafitos, traditional stilt houses built along the shore. This is the perfect place to take some iconic pictures. 

Afterwards, we will travel to the Dalcahue fishing village to enjoy a delightful lunch. You will have time to do some sightseeing and visit the local market known for its wool and wooden handcrafts. As we discover the different highlights our surroundings have to offer, views of the nearby Quinchao Island will serve as our backdrop. As our excursion comes to an end we will return to your hotel

After breakfast you will be picked up from your hotel to start this private full day tour. You will first visit the bustling local market where seaweed, smoked shellfish, fresh vegetables, and handmade cheeses are all on display. From there, you will then drive an hour to the small fishing hamlet of Quemchi, whose brightly painted boats lay at anchor along the waterfront. 

Further south of the village we will find the Aucar Island; “Island of Sailor’s Souls”. Accessible only by a footbridge, the island is a small botanical garden planted by a priest who ran the chapel grounds. You will have a delicious lunch here while exploring this island. 

After our visit, we will continue down the coast through the forests and farmlands to a few small fishing villages. UNESCO churches dot this coast along with breathtaking scenery. Afterwards you will be returned to your hotel in Castro.

After being picked up from your hotel in Castro we will head southbound towards the Chiloé National Park, bordering the Huillinco and Cucao lakes. When we reach the entrance of the park we will leave our vehicle and start our low difficulty hiking to explore our surroundings. 

We will follow a trail that will impress us with its wonderful scenery and amazing biodiversity. Subsequently, we will continue towards an indigenous community called Quilque where we will enjoy a picnic style lunch including typical dishes of the island. After this we will board our vehicle once again to reach the town of Chonchi where we will visit its church, declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
