To allow your body to adapt to altitude, we will transfer you directly from arrival at the Cuzco airport (3,400 m.a.s.l) to the Sacred Valley (2,800 m.a.s.l.) This is much lower than Cuzco, but still higher than Machu Picchu which is 2,400 m.a.s.l. 

We recommend you spend this afternoon staying hydrated, relaxing and eating very light food. Altitude can slow digestion and dehydration can occur.

Please do avoid being overly active this afternoon as it is likely you will feel the effects of altitude.

The name “Parakitampu”derives from the Quechua words “pakari”, which means “dawn” and “tampu” which means “home”. Pakaritampu Hotel is in the heart of the Sacred Valley, located in the village of Ollantaytambo. It is a short walk to the train station with direct connection to Machu Picchu, and one hour and a half drive from the city of Cuzco.

The town of Ollantaytambo is the starting point of the Inca Trail, a beautiful place that offers various tourist attractions.

Rooms here will provide you with a private bathroom with hot water and toiletries, a digital safety-deposit box, a TV with cable channels, amenities, WiFi access, a phone, and a garden and mountain view. A heater can be requested.

First you will visit Pisac, a picturesque town located 32km northeast of Cuzco. Its colourful markets take place every day. Here merchants sell all sorts of handicrafts, the most important of which are the textiles and ceramic goods such as ceremonial goblets called "Q'eros", plates, ashtrays, necklace and replicas of pre-Hispanic pottery.

Lunch will be included at a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will visit the remarkable fortress of Ollantaytambo, built by the Incas. A very steep stone staircase leads into the fortress. Across an esplanade there is a temple with 10 niches, and beside it a block of partially unworked stones. Beyond another esplanade, six huge rectangular monoliths (estimated weight: 50 tons) form the Temple of the Sun. Vestiges of rooms are seen on top of the fortress, and on the other side of the hill a four storey building, believed to be either a military school or prison.

After the tour you will be transferred to your hotel.

Visit Maras & Moray on your All Terrain Bike (ATB). Drive through the remote villages and agricultural fields with beautiful landscapes, looking for a alternative experience to visit the historical Inca legacy.

The ATB tour starts with a driving lesson to teach you how to ride your quad bike  After that, you will visit the village of Maras and continue the adventure for a visit  to the archaeological complex of Moray.

You will visit the salt mines before returning to the base at Pata Cruz from where you will be transferred back the hotel in Ollantaytambo village.

Ollantaytambo is a village in the Sacred Valley of south Peru, set on the Urubamba River amid snow-capped mountains. It's known for the Ollantaytambo ruins, a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside. Major sites within the complex include the huge Sun Temple and the Princess Baths fountain. The village's old town is an Inca-era grid of cobblestoned streets and adobe buildings.

Spend the time at leisure in Aguas Calientes exploring the small town. There is a craft market here, however, many similar items can be found at a better price in Cuzco. You can also visit the 'hot waters' (hot springs) that gave the town its name.

Today you will climb Huayna Picchu Montain and have a guided tour of the Machu Picchu citadel. Full logistical details will be provided upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes.

Well known as ‘The Lost City of the Incas’, Machu Picchu was built around 1450, but abandoned 100 years later at the time of the Spanish conquest of the Inca Empire. In 1911 Hiram Bingham, an American historian discovered its existence with its classic Inca style. The main buildings of Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows, are located in the Sacred District of Machu Picchu.

Huayna Picchu is the towering mountain behind the actual site of Machu Picchu. From a distance the mountain looks impossible to climb without the necessary tools but even though a strenuous climb with some parts where you will actually will need both hands and feet, the climb is quite possible for all averagely fit visitors. For many people climbing Huayna Picchu is one of the highlights when visiting Machu Picchu. The climb itself is interesting as you will see how the Inca did cut out some steps out of the rocks and as you wind around the side of a mountain will see Machu Picchu from different angles.

Next you will be transferred by bus to the gates of Machu Picchu where you will have a private guided tour of Machu Picchu. You will then have free time to explore the site at your own leisure. You will return via train from Aguas Calientes to your Cuzco hotel via train and transfer. Depending on when you travel, the logistics are as follows. 

May to December Return Logistics:
From May to December, the train runs from Aguas Calientes station all the way to Poroy Station just 25 mins outside of Cuzco. Your private transfer will be waiting for you at the Poroy Station to take you to your Cuzco hotel.

January to April Return Logistics:
From January to April, the train runs only from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo Station. From there, everyone on the train boards shared coaches for the drive from Ollantaytambo Station to Wanchaq Station (just 5 minutes from the centre of Cuzco). This shared coach is operated by Peru Rail.

Your private transfer will be waiting for you at the Wanchaq Station to take you to your Cuzco hotel.

Afterwards, our tour continues in the Imperial City, we will stroll through the Main Square, where we will discover the Cathedral and admire its exquisite vestibules and priceless paintings from the Cusco School of the 17th and 18th centuries. You will be picked up from your hotel in Cuzco between 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. (this depends on the location of your hotel). The group will then drive to Mollepata where you will have breakfast in Casa Salkantay restaurant. After breakfast the trip continues with a 1 hour and 30 minute drive, arriving at Soraypampa place.  Here you will begin the walk to the Humantay Lagoon, depending on your fitness level it will be approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.  After arriving to Humantay Lagoon, you will have around 40 minutes to explore, take photos and appreciate the beauty of the lagoon with your guide. You will then walk back to Soraypampa where you will have lunch and enjoy some time to relax before getting back on the bus to return to Cuzco. You will arrive back to Cuzco at approximately 5:00 pm in the afternoon.

After breakfast, you must check out at your hotel and be ready as a representative will transfer you to the Bus Terminal.

Here you will join a shared tourist bus from Cuzco to Puno (10 hours) with two stops in local communities (Includes entrance fees). Early in the morning you will depart from Cuzco for Puno on board a comfortable vehicle. This trip will allow you to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Andes. During the trip, you will make a brief stop at Andahuaylillas, a friendly, warm-weather town which is home to one of the most unique churches in the Andes, known as Peru’s Sistine Chapel. Today is another excursion with a full day tour on the spectacular Lake Titicaca where you will see the floating reed islands of the indigenous Aymara. You will have a private guide just for your group, but there will be other passengers on the boat as well. 

This tour explores the floating reed islands called Uros as well as the island of Taquile. Here you will meet the local Aymara who occupy these islands. The Aymara are the second largest indigenous culture in Peru behind the Quechua who are direct decedents of the Incan peoples. 

It is a great day exploring the highest navigable lake in the world and seeing living culture. After visiting the islands on Lake Titicaca, you will return to Puno via fast boat and will be picked up at the dock and transferred to your hotel.

Puno - Copacabana - Sun Island (South) - Inti Wata Complex- Titikaka Lake - La Paz

This full day experience starts with an early land transfer from Puno, across the boarder to Copacabana on the Bolivian side of the lake. Next you will board the Catamaran Cruise and enjoy a snack on board while sailing to Sun Island, the legendary birthplace of the Inca Empire. 

Visit the Inca Garden, steps and fountain followed by exploring the Inti Wata Cultural Complex. This includes the Ekako Underground Museum, where you will hear about traditional medicines of the area and the Titikaka Reed shipbuilders display centers. Next you will see the Pachamama agricultural Inca terraces, visit a handicraft center, see the Intica lounge and at the Manco Kapac sight the largest variety of Andean camelids.

Full day excursion to the Uyuni Salt flat, the world's largest salt deposit (around 10.000 km2), which is the most impressive and unforgettable experience of this 3 day trip. 

Before arriving to the salt flat, you will visit Colchani, a traditional salt refinement center to see how it is processed and used.  Lunch will be served in the middle of the salt desert.

From a distance, the Uyuni Salt Flat seems to be a large ice-skating rink or glacier. The tour begins by heading towards the famous Incahuasi Island (formerly known as the Fish island) covered with petrified algae and huge cactus. There is a nice panoramic view of the surrounding area from the top as the 'island' is surrounded by a sea of white salt.

After exploring the island, taking many photos using the unique depth perspective provided by the uninterrupted salt flats, you will continue on to San Pedro de Quemez. On the way, visit to a natural rock formation Cueva de las Galaxias.

Today is an early starting and you will stop for breakfast along the way to the first sights of the day. 

Visit the “Arbol de Piedra”, a surreal natural rock formation in the middle of Siloli’s desert. Next you will visit Laguna Colorada. This lagoon owes its intense red-brick colour to the light sensitive phytoplankton present in its water.

Next, continue to head north for an excursion to the Sol de Mañana Geysers (el. 4850 m.a.s.l.), a volcanic crater from which sulphuric fumes and heavy water escape, then cross the Dali Desert (named after the scenery reminiscent of one of his paintings). Box Lunch.

Finally, you will reach the Lagunas Blanca and Verde, at the foot of volcanoes Juriques and Licancabur (el. 5960 m). There is a curious phenomenon: when the wind picks up, the waters of Laguna Verde changes to a spectacular emerald colour.

Expect to spend a spectacular evening exploring Death Valley and watching the sun set in Moon Valley. The tour heads from San Pedro due north. The tour starts by heading south on wide open, unpaved roads to visit the town of Toconao. You will explore the largest salt lake in Chile that is part of the driest desert in the world. The Salar de Atacama is formed by a series of salt basins stretching beyond the horizon. It is dry and barren but it is one of the most spectacular and dramatic landscapes on earth. 

It is home to various species of flamingos as well as many other birds. The Laguna Chaxa, part of the Flamingo National Reserve, offers a terrific opportunity to get close up look at the surrounding landscape.

Finally, looking towards the Andes enjoy a colorful sunset bringing you to the end of your tour. Return to your Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.

Before dawn breaks, you will be picked up from your hotel and depart San Pedro.

Head north to the famous El Tatio Geysers, a geothermal field flanked by soaring peaks. El Tatio is situated at 4.300 m above sea level high on the Altiplano. It is the highest geothermal field in the world and boasts spectacular scenery. You will need to make sure to bring warm clothes as temperatures at this altitude are considerably low this early in the morning. 

At dawn you will observe powerful spurts of steam that shoot out from various geyser blowholes and steaming ponds that are encrusted with brilliant salt crystals reflecting the metal-blue sky. 

A simple breakfast will be waiting for you after walking through the thermal fields.

After this visit to El Tatio, you will explore the village of Machuca known as the resting place for llama caravans that travelled the Inca Highway. Here you can buy some local treats and depending on the day, potentially try a tasty, high protien snack of barbecued llama skewer.

You will be returned to your hotel just after midday.

The Puritama hot springs are located only 30 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama. Known for their warm temperatures and rich mineral composition many people believe they contain therapeutic properties and medicinal benefits. This series of eight large pools are connected by wooden footpaths and boast a small waterfall and changing rooms. 

Enjoy time in relaxation and peace surrounded by the deserts natural landscape. On the way back an optional stop at the Valle de los Cactus is available where one can take amazing pictures next to large and tall cacti.

You will explore the historical and modern sights of Santiago de Chile. The tour starts at the main avenue Alameda Bernardo O’Higgins with a visit to La Moneda, which is the Government Palace, where you will learn about the historical and modern importance. 

Next you will walk through the pedestrian streets of Huérfanos and Ahumada, where the main commercial activity of the city is concentrated. The famous main square of the city called 'Plaza de Armas' is your next stop. The plaza is surrounded by the Metropolitan Cathedral and other key historical buildings. Santa Lucia is a beautiful area to explore with extensive gardens and an antique building rising steeply overlooking the city below. Next you will cross the Mapocho River and enter the Bellavista area, the cultural and artistic neighborhood of Santiago. 

Bellavista lies at the foot of the San Cristóbal Hill, the highest point of the city in the middle of the Metropolitan Park. You will ascend the hill to explore the surroundings and enjoy panoramic views of the city. The last stop is a visit to Providencia with its top restaurants, elegant shops and modern high-rise buildings.
