Brazil

Travel experiences are endless in Brazil. As South America’s largest and most culturally diverse country, it is known for music, beaches, football, festivals and stunning landscapes.

Brazil has world famous events like Carnival (best experienced in Rio de Janeiro or Salvador) and small secluded beaches as well as one of a kind wildlife adventures. From the hustle and bustle of Rio with the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and Copacabana Beach to the quiet and remote Pantanal, you will not be disappointed. This country offers incredible coastlines with beautiful people and beaches, the vast Amazon jungle, Iguazu Falls and much more.

Brazil contains some of the most diverse flora and fauna, the largest rainforest, one of the longest rivers on Earth and also the world’s biggest and most exuberant carnival. Bound by the Atlantic Ocean on the eastern side, Brazil borders every nation in the South American continent except Chile and Ecuador.  Brazil covers 48% of South America and is one of the world’s largest countries.

Most of Brazil sits in the tropics meaning it enjoys a warm climate rarely dropping below 20°C, however, the further south you travel the more diverse the climate can be. Generally speaking southern Brazil has two seasons – a dry season from March to November, and wet season from December to February. Temperatures can get especially cool from June to September, which is considered by many as Brazil’s ‘winter’. In the south, Rio de Janeiro enjoys hot and humid summers, while the winter months bring cool evening temperatures and warm balmy days.

Brazil is home to the world’s largest tropical wetland, the Pantanal. The area’s driest months are between April and October, when temperatures sit between 30°C and 35°C. However, like in the Amazon, its wetter months offer distinct wildlife spotting opportunities. The Pantanal is very hot in the rainy season, with temperatures climbing over the low 40C. Most of the rain falls December through March.

Frequently Asked Brazil Questions

Overall, the best time to visit Brazil is between November and March. These are the warmest months across the country, with temperatures between 27°C and 33°C — perfect for enjoying New Year and Carnival celebrations. However, Brazil is a year-round destination made up of several climatic extremes, none of which are severe enough to deter travel to any part of the country at any given time.
